  • P10X Academy was rated five stars, the highest level, in the Malaysia TVET Rating (MTR) 2026 and announced the result on 30 August 2026.
  • MTR is the Department of Skills Development (JPK) rating for TVET programmes. It runs from one to five stars and replaced the JPK Star Rating and Single Rating of TVET Programmes.
  • JPK assessed 781 programmes from 241 institutions this year, and 176 programmes were rated five stars, up from 84 in 2025.
  • MTR rates programmes, so you can look up which programme holds a rating on the MySPIKE portal before you enrol.

P10X Academy has been rated five stars in the Malaysia TVET Rating (MTR) 2026, the top level in Malaysia's national rating for TVET (technical and vocational education and training) programmes. P10X Academy shared the result on its Facebook page on 30 August 2026, thanking its students and trainers, industry partners, the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) and the Department of Skills Development (JPK).

P10X Academy trains learners in car detailing, window film, PPF and vehicle wrapping in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya. Its students go through a practical assessment on real cars at an industry partner's workshop before they finish. P10X Academy says the rating reflects its focus on quality TVET training and on skills that match what the industry needs.

What the Malaysia TVET Rating measures

Malaysia TVET Rating, or MTR, is how JPK rates TVET programmes on a scale of one to five stars, with five stars as the top level. Each level reflects how viable and competitive a programme is, according to Newswav's report on MTR as a national benchmark. MTR replaced the older JPK Star Rating and Single Rating of TVET Programmes.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan launched MTR at the 5-Star TVET Institution Awards ceremony in February 2026. JPK has since made the official MTR 2026 results public on the MySPIKE portal, so students, parents and employers can look up a programme's rating themselves.

So when a provider mentions MTR stars, it is talking about JPK's official score for a specific programme, not a general award. More stars mean that programme scored higher in the assessment.

How many TVET programmes got five stars in 2026

176 programmes were rated five stars in MTR 2026, about 24.9% of all rated programmes, according to JPK's MTR 2026 results post. That is more than double the 84 programmes that received five stars in 2025.

JPK assessed 781 programmes from 241 institutions this year, well above its targets of 500 programmes and 150 institutions. Of those, 705 programmes from 229 institutions passed verification and went on to be rated. 692 of the 705 rated programmes received between three and five stars, which JPK counts as effective programmes.

About one in four rated programmes reached five stars this year. Most programmes passed, so the number of stars tells you more than a pass alone.

What five stars means if you are choosing a TVET course

Five stars tells you that JPK assessed a programme and placed it at the top level for 2026. It is a useful official check when you compare courses. You will still want to know what you will practise yourself, how your work will be assessed and which award you receive at the end, because the rating does not answer those questions for you.

Yayasan Mahir Malaysia president Datuk P. Sri Ganes advised parents and students to check a programme's official MTR status on MySPIKE instead of relying on awards, badges or "best institution" claims, as reported by Newswav. He also pointed out that a rating is valid only for a set period and has to be renewed.

Since MTR rates programmes, one programme's result does not automatically apply to every course a provider runs. If you are looking at P10X Academy, you can ask which programme was rated five stars and then look it up on MySPIKE.

A few questions are worth asking any TVET provider alongside its rating:

  • Which award will you receive, such as an SKM certificate at a stated level?
  • How much of the training is practical work on real vehicles?
  • Who assesses your work, and where does the assessment happen?
  • Which loans, allowances or fees apply to you, and on what conditions?

Who P10X Academy thanked for the rating

P10X Academy credited the result to its team, management, coaches, trainers and students in its 30 August announcement. It also thanked its industry partners, schools, educational institutions and strategic partners, along with the Government of Malaysia, KESUMA, JPK and the agencies working on Malaysia's TVET system.

Industry partners matter in automotive aesthetics training because learners need real cars and real workshops to practise on. P10X Academy has an MoU with Prestige Car Care, and its students have used the partner's workshop for their practical assessments.

P10X Academy described the rating as a milestone for its plan to build a clearer education and career route in automotive aesthetics. "Achieving 5 Stars is not the finish line," the post said. "It is our responsibility to continue raising the standard."
